Completion of the Mainframe storage migration to NWRDC’s new storage platform

The Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC) recently launched its new storage service on a Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform. This service is the Center’s first step towards storage consolidation efforts and a capacity-on-demand solution created to simplify customers’ budget development by providing predictable monthly costs.  NWRDC staff successfully migrated the Mainframe storage to the new platform over the weekend.

City of Jacksonville FAMIS Application Go Live at NWRDC

City of Jacksonville (COJ) has completed the migration of its Financial Accounting Management Information System (FAMIS) to Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC). The application went live on NWRDC’s IBM z10 system on August 1, 2011.

Since April 2011, NWRDC Mainframe and Network teams have worked very closely with the COJ technical staff to prepare for this migration. Key representatives from COJ business units have participated in testing throughout the process. 

z/OS v1.11 Upgrade For The NWRDC IBM z10 Mainframe

On Saturday July 16, 2011, NWRDC upgraded to the IBM z/OS v1.11 operating system.  This action has provided NWRDC with more flexibility to serve its customers utilizing the CICS and DB2 sub-systems.  The upgrade also provides enhanced security options for both z/OS and other support software.

Success on the Relocation of Florida Department of Education (DOE) Data Center

The first round of Florida Department of Education data center equipment was successfully moved to Northwest Regional Data Center (NWRDC) over the weekend of April 16-17, 2011. As part of the State Data Center Consolidation effort, various data centers at DOE are moving to NWRDC by December 31st, 2011 through multiple phases.
